While Celtic Fans were coming down the road from Dundee after watching the Bhoys turn on the style. The Ghirls were turning on the style at Fir Hill in the SWPL Cup Final and lifting silverware after A 1-0 win over Glasgow City. Fran Alonso’s team brought another trophy home to Paradise.

Caitlin Hayes 25 minute goal was enough to separate the city rivals. Celtic Captain Kelly Clarke lifted the Cup after a long wait. It was back in 2010 when the Celtic Women lifted their last trophy.

There was no early start yesterday or airport check in for me after my ticket for the Dundee United game got cancelled after the Jerry Kerr Stand closure following storm damage. I did enjoy the lie in and watching the game on TV but nothing beats actually being there in the flesh and what a game to miss as Celtic turned on the style.

I still have nightmares about some on the horror shows I watched on TV during last seasons fan less season and even though anyone travelling now from Ireland to watch Celtic from southern airports will have to have a Covid Test before travelling in and out average cost about €35/£35 for antigen with PCR more expensive. This may put some fans off travelling but Irish based Celtic fans will still travel in large numbers and on Thursday there were plenty of fans on my flight heading over for the Hearts game.

Injuries to key players meant that Ange had to shuffle the pack and there were a few moans about one player coming in on our Whats App group but there will have been few moans since after the performance we witnessed and Irish eyes were certainly smiling after Liam Scales who came over to the bench to score on his SPFL debut after his move from Shamrock Rovers earlier in the season.

Tom Rogic was outstanding and his opening goal for Celtic will be a strong contender for Goal of the Season after he dribbled his way through before he dazzled us with a wonderful strike. After missing an earlier chance David Turnbull added a second after quality ball from Captain Callum who was outstanding again.

After much criticism of the Celtic defence this season it was good to see them keep another clean sheet. One of the biggest talking points of the game was the tackle on Turnbull from Callum Butcher which he only received a yellow card for when it was a straight red all day. Another honest mistake!

Ange looked a happy man after each goal and celebrated with the travelling Celtic fans at full time. The travelling support once again let the Celtic board know their thoughts on Bernard Higgins following on from the banner display throughout the stadium on Thursday night.

After a period where we looked like we were getting close to a full squad after a spate of injuries, we can now add another three players to the injury list. Jota, Ralston and Welsh all left the field early against Hearts and would be doubtful to feature against United. We did welcome back Carl Starfelt and Tom Rogic back to the fold and Starfelt, in particular, had a good game, probably his best yet in a Celtic jersey.

The 1-0 win against the Jambos was massive, they had only suffered 2 defeats in the league before hand and know how to grind out results, in the end it was Celtic who would see the result out. Quite simply we were the more dominant team, plenty of people bumping their gums about Kyogo’s goal as if Hearts were cheated, it was marginal but overall we deserved the win.

We go into the Dundee United match, again playing catch up on the Rangers so as I seem to say every week, this is another crucial game.

United are having a decent season, currently sitting 4th, with 7 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses with a total of 25 points. However their form has dipped in the last 5 games with only the one win, against Aberdeen. Last week they were beaten by Motherwell.

The Celtic team has been announced and Carter-Vickers returns as does Greg Taylor at left back. Mikey Johnstone also starts.

Mick Kane hails from Glasgow. He has been hooked on Celtic since he went to his first game when he was 7. Celtic beat Hamilton 8-3 at Celtic Park on the 3rd of January 1987. His favourite player at the time, Brian McClair scored four goals.

He started going regular as a 16 year old when Celtic played at Hampden for the season, being a Southsider it meant a short train journey to get to Hampden. From then he has had a season ticket travelled around Europe for games as Celtic became the dominant force in Scottish football again. A nice change from growing up during Rangers run to 9 in a row.

Its hard to believe that it has been 20 years since More than 90 Minutes first went on sale at Celtic Park in September 2001. I can still remember that sunny day outside Celtic Park. Celtic under the guidance of Martin O’Neill Celtic beat Dunfermline comfortable that day and we went out to celebrate the win after selling a few hundred copies of issue 1 for £1. Myself, Sandra, Sinead and Tom were the ground sellers that day. Since then many people have sold the fanzine outside Paradise and also at many away grounds in all weathers.

Fanzines were once the main stream of media for football fans who were fed up with the main stream media slant and the official club publications and wanted an alternative slant on their team. Print media is not what it was but people of a certain vintage still want a hard copy of fanzines or a book and we felt a backlash a few years back when we suggested we go digital only. We soon found out that the demand for our print copy could substance the increased cost of printing and post.

When Covid 19 and the realism we would have no match day sales we faced a decision to put out the fanzine or put it on hold till we got back, that decision was made easy because of the support we received from subscribers and sponsors who backed us including some Celtic Minded businesses which were closed.

Since those early days we have met some great people and made some lifelong friends from Harald Harsson from CSC Norway who wrote the first letter into the fanzine to Javi and the Betis fans who helped me recover my phone in Seville recently.

Interview wise the first one we did was with my good pal and St. Margaret’s CSC stalwart Hilly followed by Lisbon Lion Legend the late great Tommy Gemmell. The most recent interview features Trevor Sinclair in conversation with Mick Kane.

Mick started writing for us recently and has been busy doing our watch previews for celticfanzine.com and chasing down some guests for a chat. We have been blessed to have had so many contributors from all walks of life sending in articles, cartoons and interviews over the 20 years.

When I think back I remember a young comedian called Kevin Bridges appearing in the fanfile, an emotional interview with Charlie Gallagher. Signing up John Fallon as a guest columnist over a brandy shandy in a marquee in Las Vegas while watching Riverdance. There are too many people to thank or mention so I won’t in case I forget someone but you know who you are and you know what you have done to help get the fanzine out on a regular basis.

I suppose if I flicked through the last 116 editions I would remember so much more and reflect back some more over the last twenty years. I keep them all in files at More than 90 Minutes HQ,. Hopefully we can keep going in a World where media is changing by the second in a digital age of social media where quality journalism is being replaced by click and paste lazy journalism, rumours, bullshit and sensationalised headlines.

Celtic are back in action with a crucial match in the league as Hearts travel along the M8.
Celtic and Hearts go into the game now 7 and 9 points behind Rangers due to them beating Hibs on Wednesday night. A win is paramount if we are to have any hopes of winning the league.

We go into the game after beating Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Sunday where the 2-1 shoreline probably flattered the Dons. That’s 8 games unbeaten in the league now.

The Jambos have had a good season so far since their return to the top division, sitting 3rd, two points behind Celtic. They have only lost twice in the league, most recently away to Motherwell a couple of weeks ago. They have a record of won 8, drawn 6 and lost 2, so too many drawn games has been their downfall so far. With ex Celtic players Craig Gordon and Gary Mackay-Steven and the likes of Liam Boyce and reported Celtic target John Souttar, they have plenty of Premiership experience in their ranks.

Celtic should be boosted by Tom Rogic and Carl Starfelt close to a return and James Forrest having featured in the last few games as he nears match fitness. The return of these three players will only benefit the team, Rogic had been in great form before his injury and his link up with McGregor and Turnbull in midfield was starting to click. Starfelt was starting to become the assured centre half we all hoped he would and Forrest was a massive miss last season, both in his goals and assists.

With a month until the transfer window, its imperative we do not fall further behind with the Derby clash at the start of January and the chance of reinforcements added to the team, the next month is massive.
