Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Matt O’Riley, who has joined the club from MK Dons on a four-and-a-half-year deal, subject to international clearance, which will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2026.
The highly-rated 21-year-old midfielder becomes Ange Postecoglou’s fifth signing of the January transfer window, following the arrival of Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi, Reo Hatate and Johnny Kenny.
Matt came through the Fulham Youth Academy and made his first-team debut for the club back in August 2017 at the age of just 16. He made five appearances in total for the club before signing for MK Dons in January 2021.
Since then, he’s gone on to make 52 appearances for the English League One club, scoring nine goals including seven this season, helping push MK Dons to fifth in the table.

Hatate man of the match performance had us all talking after the match about him as we strolled out of Celtic Park and by fans watching throughout the World. 60,000 fans on a Monday night many travelling over land and sea to be there.
Having away fans inside the ground is also important to add a bit if spite to the atmosphere but they may have to revisit their songbook and come up with something better than “Cheerio 10IAR”. We have done our mourning on that subject and have moved on to the Ange Train.

Jota is a player the Celtic fans would love to see make his loan move a permanent one, his parent club Benfica will be very impressed with his performances for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou.
It’s been a good week so far for Jota who picked up his November player of the month award. He got a great reception when he came off the bench on Monday night and he must have felt the love that the Celtic fans have for him.
Almost on a daily basis there is speculation across media platforms about the a permanent move to Celtic and at times it can be tiresome and we can only hope that the Celtic board and Ange are working together to get the deal done.
If he signs a permanent deal it will be music to every Celtic fans ears but for now we can look forward to him getting back to full fitness and picking up where he left off for Celtic before he got injured.
The speculation will continue but he is here till the end of the season and we look forward to being entertained by the young Portuguese winger and trust Ange on this one.
With the 2022 World Cup in Qatar kicking off on Nov. 21 and not finishing till Dec. 18. The Scottish Premiership 2022/23 season will now kick off the last weekend in July.
The winter break will take place during the World Cup. Celtic will play their last game on the weekend of Nov 12/13 and action will return on the weekend before Christmas Dec. 17/18.
There will be a busy festive spell of fixtures, with clubs playing five matches in 15 days between 24 December and 7 January, including on Christmas Eve and Hogmanay, which are both Saturdays.
The Scottish Premiership will finish up on the last weekend in May 27/28.
This will also affect the League Cup Semi Finals and Final which will now take place in 2023. Semi’s are scheduled for Jan. 14/15 and the final scheduled for Feb. 26 with the group stages starting July 9/10 2021.
The date pencilled in for the Scottish Cup final is June 3 but it is yet to be confirmed.
Conor will be remembered for saving two penalty’s in an empty Hampden as Celtic fans watched nervously on TV screens throughout the World as Celtic completed the Quadruple treble.
This loan move will see him hopefully get some playing time after dropping down the pecking order at Celtic since the arrival of Joe Hart in the summer.
Conor’s time at Celtic has seen him make 7 appearances for the first team. He made his debut in the Europa League back in 2020 v Lille and spent time out on loan at Dundee, Partick and Falkirk.

There was a lot of talk at the end of December when the Scottish Government decided to impose a 500 limit to sporting events in a move to try and curb the spread of the new covid variant. The logical thing to do was move forward the winter break, which all but two clubs backed.
Not surprising that one of those clubs who were against moving the winter break but instead play with 500 fans was the Rangers, they had away trips to Celtic Park and Aberdeen to play, they must now play both in front of capacity crowds.
The winter break came at the right time for Celtic as we were running on empty. The few weeks off should help recover bodies and minds and we now have a bigger squad with the addition of Hatate, Ideguchi and Maeda to the first team squad. I expect at least one to play tonight.
Hibs have appointed former Celt, Shaun Maloney as manager and it will be interesting to see how Shaun fares at Easter Road. He has added a couple of signings which will be needed as Paul McGinn and Ryan Porteous are both suspended for tonight’s match.
Hibs form had picked up after the dismissal of Jack Ross, with a draw and three wins in the league, with their only loss against Celtic in the League Cup Final. A win for Hibs would take them back into the top four. They have a record of 8 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses and have a points total of 29 in the league.
A win for Celtic will also, for the first time in a while, put a bit of pressure on Rangers who travel to Pittodrie tomorrow, as we would go 3 points behind.
Mick Kane hails from Glasgow. He has been hooked on Celtic since he went to his first game when he was 7. Celtic beat Hamilton 8-3 at Celtic Park on the 3rd of January 1987. His favourite player at the time, Brian McClair scored four goals.
He started going regular as a 16 year old when Celtic played at Hampden for the season, being a Southsider it meant a short train journey to get to Hampden. From then he has had a season ticket travelled around Europe for games as Celtic became the dominant force in Scottish football again. A nice change from growing up during Rangers run to 9 in a row.
