After a tough battle last night one of Celtic’s goal scorers, Giorgos Giakoumakis was in confident mood ahead of the visit of Dundee Utd to Celtic Park on Saturday.

He has waited for his chance to come back and get a starting place and one thing is for sure he has an eye for goal and with every game he will get back to full fitness and he looks like he could find the net each time he pulls on the hoops.
When talking to Celtic TV after the game he said
“It’s really important to me and the team. We won a very big game and I wanted to score in this type of match.
“We could have scored more goals and that would have made the result easier for us.
“In the end, it was really tough but we learned a lot. It’s a big win and we move on.
‘For me, I don’t care how I score, a goal is a goal. Even if it’s a tap-in or from long-range, for me it’s the same.’
“I’m happy to be contributing and that was my goal since the summer.
‘I’m healthy now and I can be myself and contribute to the effort of the team.’
“We feel good, our confidence is really high and we believe in ourselves.
“We believe we can win against every opponent in the league and the target now is to go on and win it.”

Tynecastle is a tough place to go, the Hearts fans are close to the pitch and give plenty of abuse to Celtic players. So a game like this is not for shrieking violets.

The Celtic players like on Saturday will know they have been in a tough battle with plenty of rough challenges from the home side.
With the allocation cut to 1200 tickets for Celtic fans, this match reviewer failed to get a ticket in the ballot. Tickets were like hens teeth so it was TV viewing tonight and what a first half we witnessed Celtic dominated the first 45 and indeed up until Hearts scored from an offside position in the second half it was all green and white traffic.
Hatate strike was outstanding, Giakoumakis goal added a bit of magic to the night and O’ Riley was outstanding on his debut and picked up a MOTM award which could have went to Hearts goalkeeper, Gordon who kept Hearts in the game on numerous occasions as Celtic piled pressure on the home side.
Celtic were missing a half a dozen or so players through injury and international duty but those who were called into the starting 11 battled hard and deserve full credit for the attitude shown in the later stages to defend the lead and see out the game and head back to Glasgow with 3 points.
There will be plenty to chat about on the buses back to Glasgow tonight included that missed Hearts penalty. Next up Dundee United at home at 3pm Saturday. One game at a time!

With Kyogo Furuhashi out injured he was replaced by new bhoy Daizen Maeda to lead Celtic’s attack on Monday night and he had a dream start with a goal with his first touch.
He has followed this up with a call up to the Japan National team and his international boss Hajime Moriyasu had this to say about the Celtic attacker “What I expect from him is goals. He scored shortly into his debut for Celtic and he was the J1 top scorer last season. That’s what I want from him”
Maeda will now join Australian international Tom Rogic on the long hike home and he and Rogic will miss crucial Celtic games including the Glasgow Derby clash with the Rangers.
I was a lot more confident that Celtic’s Japanese players would not all be called up to the national team for Japan’s upcoming games after chatting to Japan Times journalist Dan Orlowitz before the squad was announced early this morning (Glasgow Time).
There was more good news for Ange Postecoglou when news filtered through that Cameron Carter-Vickers was not included in the USA squad.
Dan joined me on Celtic Fanzine TV and told us that Yosuke Ideguchi would not be in the Japanese manager’s thoughts, while Maeda most likely would be called up in the absence of the availability of his injured team mate Kyogo.

He also told us Hajime Moriyasu may not select Reo Hatate to sit on the bench after travelling half way around the World when he could be playing for Celtic. Hatate and Guchi can now look forward to locking horns with the Rangers.

The past week feels like a big week in the season.
With the return of Premier League on Monday night and a convincing Celtic win, and an introduction of Hatate, Maeda and Ideguchi, the mood amongst Celtic fans was good. This was boosted the following night as Rangers were lucky to leave Pittodrie with a point.
The gap at the top is now 4 points and if we can maintain or even close it even more in the two matches to be played before Rangers come to Celtic Park, then it really will be squeaky bum time for the blue half of Glasgow.
However this week is Scottish Cup football and the Hoops travel to Alloa. Alloa Athletic are currently 8th in League 1, with a record of 5 wins, 7 draws and 9 defeats. The Clackmannanshire side were relegated last season from the Championship.
Barry Ferguson took over last summer from Peter Grant. Indeed several former Celtic players have managed Athletic, Dom Sullivan, Paul Hartley, Barry Smith and Jim Goodwin had all been in the hot seat before Grant.
The former Kilmarnock and Hearts (amongst several other clubs) player Conor Sammon is probably the most well known face in the squad.
They have entered the Scottish Cup since 1883 and so far the furthest they have went in the completion is the Quarter Finals, the last time being in 1988.
Celtic added another midfield option on Thursday after the £1.5 million capture of Matt O’Riley from MK Dons and with Tom Rogic looking likely to miss the next 3 league games and Turnbull’s injury, then we could see a quick start to O’Riley’s Celtic career.
Mick Kane hails from Glasgow. He has been hooked on Celtic since he went to his first game when he was 7. Celtic beat Hamilton 8-3 at Celtic Park on the 3rd of January 1987. His favourite player at the time, Brian McClair scored four goals.
He started going regular as a 16 year old when Celtic played at Hampden for the season, being a Southsider it meant a short train journey to get to Hampden. From then he has had a season ticket travelled around Europe for games as Celtic became the dominant force in Scottish football again. A nice change from growing up during Rangers run to 9 in a row.
