The wins over Hearts and Dundee United along with Rangers draw against Ross County gives the Hoops the chance to go top of the table with a win.
Both the Glasgow teams haven’t been setting the world alight in the last couple of games however the fact Celtic were able to grab the late winner on Saturday shows we can grind results out and keep playing until the final whistle. On the other hand Rangers trailed then went in front only to concede an injury time equaliser.
There’s no doubt Celtic’s play is missing McGregor, Rogic, Turnbull and Kyogo who have been mainstay’s of the team this season however Hatate and O’Riley have looked like they fit right in. We will need both to be at their best on Wednesday especially as Bitton is suspended.
Rangers are missing Morelos but have been given a big boost with the late transfer window loan signing of Aaron Ramsay. The Welshman has been a great player but has hardly played for the past few years since moving to Juventus. Seems they are gambling big time on winning the league to get the Champions League money. Man for man I’m quite happy with the Celtic squad when fully fit.
This game really is massive for both teams a Celtic win and I can see Rangers struggling in the games ahead, with the pressure of their fans on their backs. A Rangers win and it will be a struggle for Celtic to claw back five points.
Rangers, both old and new, haven’t won a midweek league game against Celtic since 2000 when Dick Advocaat was the manager. Let’s hope that form continues.

Mick Kane hails from Glasgow. He has been hooked on Celtic since he went to his first game when he was 7. Celtic beat Hamilton 8-3 at Celtic Park on the 3rd of January 1987. His favourite player at the time, Brian McClair scored four goals.
He started going regular as a 16 year old when Celtic played at Hampden for the season, being a Southsider it meant a short train journey to get to Hampden. From then he has had a season ticket travelled around Europe for games as Celtic became the dominant force in Scottish football again. A nice change from growing up during Rangers run to 9 in a row.

The echoes from Ange Postecoglou’s first week at pre-season training reverberated around an ecstatic Celtic Park as the referee blew the full time whistle in what could prove to be a pivotal day in the SPFL title chase.

We never stop! We never stop! We’ll stop at half-time and we’ll stop at the end of the game when we celebrate. Never a truer word was spoken.
A frustrating afternoon of missed chances and inspired goalkeeping looked to have taken the edge off some pre-match euphoria in and around the stadium. Anyone strolling through the street making their to Celtic Park for the 3pm kick-off would have heard the car horns and cheers as news broke that the current league leaders had dropped points in Dingwall.
The energy generated from the stands could not be replicated on the field of play as Celtic started slowly. While our possession and passing stats may have looked impressive, any cutting edge in the final third was sadly missing.
Giorgos Giakoumakis perhaps waited too long to pull the trigger from a long ball played over the top of the Dundee United defence, the ball just didn’t come down quick enough and was dealt with from a last ditch tackle from the United defence.
A subdued 1st half saw O’Reilly squander a guilt edged chance from inside the 18 yard box and Siegrest make a number of saves to keep scores level going into half-time.
The boss clearly wanted a bit more urgency in the 2nd half, making changes by replacing Forrest with Jota and Scales with Juranovic.

The change gave the crowd a lift as well as the players. In the opening moments of the 2nd half Jota set up O’ Riley, only to see his header tipped round the post by an inspired Siegrest in the United goal.
The terrors keeper was having one of those matches where he was on the end of everything, this time stopping Giakoumakis from point blank range.
With Celtic creeping up the pitch more often a few gaps started to appear in midfield. Bitton was booked for a late challenge, which he would rue 10 minutes from full time when he received his marching orders after a 2nd yellow card.
Difficult to complain about either decision, both merited yellow cards, but the consistency of the referee decisions was frustrating.
With Celtic down to 10 men the challenge of breaking down the United defence could only get more difficult. With the clock ticking towards the 91st minute substitute Jota was released down the right wing and delivered a perfect cross into the United box where Liel Abada controlled the ball before firing a shot high into the net sparking scenes of wild celebrations throughout the stadium.
There is still plenty of football left to be played before the season ends and no doubt more twists and turns in the championship. However, momentum plays a significant part in any sporting success and that appears to be gathering pace in the east end of Glasgow.

It’s been a while since we experienced the exhilaration of a last minute winner at Celtic Park, there is no better feeling and after being away from our team and fellow supporters for so long over the last 2 years, today was a special reminder of the camaraderie the beautiful game can help deliver.

Ange is bringing players in to the club who we have never heard of but they have slotted in perfectly to his system, they are here for the long haul and they have not cost a lot in todays over inflated football market.
The high intensity we play may have seen some players running on empty at full time last week but if all the Celtic squad were fully fit the bench could be full of quality replacements.

Reo Hatate’s strike last week got us off our seats like Nakamura would have when Gordon Strachan was in charge.

Dan Orlowitz joins More than 90 Minutes Editor, Andrew Milne to chat about the debuts of Celtic’s three new Japanese players, Maeda, Guchi and Hatate and look back on the first six months of Ange and Kyogo at Celtic Football Club.
With all the talk of international call ups, Andrew gets the lowdown from Dan on Japan’s up coming games and which of Celtic’s Japanese Bhoys may be called up to the National side and who may not be in contention for selection before the squad is announced on Saturday.
Dan also chats about the marketing opportunities that Celtic FC can explode in Japan, the recent exposure Celtic have received over there and also the possibility of Celtic touring Japan in the future and the crowds they could attract.
