Kyogo on the Hampden turf would be a big boost to the fans and players alike.
It’s a cold foggy morning in Glasgow as we awaken to the Premier Sports Cup Final Day.
Celtic make the short trip to Hampden Park, a home from home in the past five years, to take on Hibs.
With recent form, showing Celtic should be clear favourites, that doesn’t take into consideration the injury problems we have suffered recently. Hibs have also sacked Jack Ross, with David Gray in the dug out on a temporary basis.
In the past five matches between the clubs, Celtic have won two, most recently at Easter Road in October, and three draws.
Celtic go into the game having won midweek with a 96th minute winner, scored by Anthony Ralston after having been dominant in the first half and struggling in the second half to break down the battling Highlanders, that is until Ralston popped up to head home. Ralston has become a fan favourite, due to his performances this year but his attitude is spot on, he has a bit of a swagger about him and can see he is confident playing under Ange, he has been like a new signing when most felt his time at the club was over, fair play to him, grasping the opportunity.

With a front three, of Abada, Montgomery and Juranovic playing against Ross County, we can only hope one of the recently injured forward players will be back for the final, I have a sneaky suspicion that Kyogo will be on the Hampden turf and his presence will offer a big boost to the fans and players alike.
Mick Kane hails from Glasgow. He has been hooked on Celtic since he went to his first game when he was 7. Celtic beat Hamilton 8-3 at Celtic Park on the 3rd of January 1987. His favourite player at the time, Brian McClair scored four goals.
He started going regular as a 16 year old when Celtic played at Hampden for the season, being a Southsider it meant a short train journey to get to Hampden. From then he has had a season ticket travelled around Europe for games as Celtic became the dominant force in Scottish football again. A nice change from growing up during Rangers run to 9 in a row.

More than 90 Minutes Editor, Andrew Milne is joined by former CSA secretary Eddie Toner on Talk from the Terrace ahead of Celtic’s League Cup final v Hibs at Hampden. The bhoys chat about the comparisons drawn recently by Paul Lambert about Wim Jansen and Ange Postecoglou.
Callum McGregor captaincy and his leadership skills pop up in conversation and the man of the moment Tony Ralston and those celebrations when he struck the winner in the Highlands on the 97 minute and the difference in coming down the road with all 3 points makes.
With the unity between the Celtic Manager, Players and Fans the bhoys also chat about the Celtic Boards refusal to address the fans regarding the Bernard Higgins question hanging over all connected with Celtic at a time when all the Celtic Supporters Groups from the old guard of the Associations to Ultras groups are all in agreement on the subject. For the first time in a long time all the groups are united and are all against any move to have Mr Higgins employed by Celtic Football Club.

Kyogo nets UEFA’s top goal of Europa League Group Stage
Everyone inside Celtic Park was raving about Kyogo’s goal in the 2-0 win over Ferencvaros back on October 19 when the Japanese striker opened the scoring against the Hungarian champions with a truly wonderful strike.
Well, it wasn’t only the Celtic Park crowd who were hailing the goal as it came out top in UEFA’s Goal Of The Group Stage in the Europa League.
Jota’s pass for Kyogo also played a vital part in the stunning strike which gathered a monster 43 per cent of the vote for the 10 goals nominated by UEFA.
The goal was a thing of beauty that started with Jota in the left-back position, he drifted into midfield and, from halfway inside the Celtic half, played a 50-yard ball to exactly inside halfway inside the Ferencvaros half.

Kyogo took an excellent touch, and with his next touch the ball was on its way past the keeper and into the back of the net.

It’s Ross County tonight and a trip up North for Celtic any talk of cup finals will be put on the backburner until the journey back for Ange, the players and the Celtic support. For those lucky enough to have tickets for tonight it will be another away day with the usual shenanigans and for those without tickets the game can be streamed for £15.
I drew a blank in the ballot for this one so it’s the stream for me and a rest after rolling back the years with the young crew on Sunday after we beat Motherwell but I realised the next morning that I should know better and I should have went to my bed earlier but thankfully I was on the flight home as I waved the bhoys goodbye as they headed home on the the rail and sail.
Thankfully I was recovered from last weeks trips in plenty of time to chat to Ange and Joe Hart on Tuesday about the January transfer window, last weeks games and the importance of all the squad and the B team to be able to step into the first team with so many injuries upfront at the moment.
Thanks to everybody who came along to both our Celtic AM pre-match events in Murphy’s Glasgow before the Betis and Motherwell games and we will be back in the merchant city for another pre-match show ahead of our final against Hibs at Hampden.
Special shout out to the Young Crew and the Belfast Bhoys who kept me entertained over the weekend in the hotel with some tall tales of previous trips and mishaps. Laughter is certainly good for you!

More than 90 Minutes Editor, Andrew Milne joins Ange Postecoglou and Joe Hart at the media conference ahead of Ross County away. The manager chats about the importance of the league game and the 3 points up for grabs ahead of his first cup final on Sunday.
He also touches on the growing injury list and the recent Europa Conference League draw and the trip next year to Norway. Public health and Covid questions are asked and answered including the importance of having Celtic supporters in stadiums.
Andrew asks Ange about the squad players who came in against Betis and if they are now ready to step up if called upon before the January transfer window and the importance of B team players being ready when they are called up to the first team and the importance of the B team playing the same system and training at the same intensity as the first team.
Joe Hart chats about the games coming thick and fast and the focus of the team on the Ross County game. Andrew asks Joe about the unity between the manager, the players and the fans and also the heavy schedule and the lack of recovery time between games.
It is refreshing to hear Joe put any talk of the next European game aside with it being so far away to concentrate on the present rather than the future..

Celtic v Motherwell Match Preview – Dawson & Moffat called up from B Team
Celtic face Motherwell in league action on Sunday, again playing catch up as Hearts play Rangers in the early kick off.
We go into the game having lost Kyogo in the midweek win over Real Betis, a game he didn’t have to be a part of, however injuries can happen at any time and with Ajeti going off injured earlier in the game then we can consider it unlucky to then have Kyogo go off injured. We have suffered what appears to be a lot of hamstring injuries and are going to be severely depleted trying to maintain the four points difference at the top of the table before we can get reinforcements in January.
We have a good record of late against Motherwell, having won nine of our last league games, whereas the Well have lost the last nine visits to Celtic Park in the league, Celtic have scored 30 goals and conceding only 3 at Celtic Park during this run.
Motherwell are currently sitting 4th in the table having won 7, drawn 4 and lost 6, they have 25 points from the 17 games played. Their form has picked up in the last five games, with just the one defeat, one draw and three wins. Their previous five they had lost four. Former Celtic striker, Tony Watt has rediscovered his goalscoring and currently leads the scoring chart, with 9 goals in the league.
With no recognised strikers available, it will be interesting to see how Celtic line up. Owen Moffat and Joey Dawson were left out of Friday night’s B team win away to East Stirling and have now been called up to the first team, Moffat had a glimpse of first team life when he was involved in preseason and acquitted himself well, he has 11 goals and 6 assists from 19 games this season and is top scorer for the B team. Dawson has had 8 starts and a few sub appearances and has scored 4 goals, 3 of which have come in the last 5 games. One or both could feature on Sunday due to injuries.
