If Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawell thought that releasing a statement on the clubs official website would appease the Celtic fans he has completely misjudged the feeling within the support. It answers none of our concerns and could be compared to a Donald Trump Tweet. Something of little substance with no right to reply or question.

While the fans are left to debate it on social media. This Saturday the Celtic Trust who have always had all Celtic fans interests at the top of their agenda. There are no egos on display within the Trust committee just a hard working group who have stood up for supporters when the board room considered them an embarrassment to the image of how they think fans should behave.

Should fans be sending Peter Lawell a get well soon message since he has been suffering from the worst case of Laryngitis in history since Brendan Rodgers departed for the bright lights of Leicester.

It was also perfect when Brendan was in charge at Celtic, where once the terraces swayed to the sound of the Wham classic “Last Christmas” dreaming of him and Kieran Tierney dancing in front of the fans with a loud speaker proclaiming they were here from 10IAR.

Now there are no fans to dance in front of and no loud speaker to play to the crowd, No Kieran or Brendan. When both left while fans fought over social media about Kieran being a Celtic fan or not. Brendan was simply a rat yet the board room remained silent with the exception of a badly composed statements from Peter, Brendan and Iain Bankier who without getting personal seems as useful as Tits on a Bull.

As the hardcore fans around the globe mourned losing a Top class manager and a quality young player. Peter was laughing all the way to the bank and maybe in his mind he could justify obscene amounts of money he is payed at a club set up to feed the poor of the East End of Glasgow and remember we have a statue of our founding father to remind us outside the front of the stadium of who we are and where we have come from.

If that was not bad enough Bankier is paid an estimated £80,000 a year to chair meetings and eat and drink in the board room on match day at our expense. While fans sleep out to support the charity wing of the club each Christmas and continue to support foodbanks and bucket collections. Iain Bankier does not need payment for his position on the board a quick look at his employment CV would suggest he has a few quid spare in the bank.

Surely the money could be better spent elsewhere at the club like maybe they should not have charged the Kano Foundation Charity for their season books this year, now that would have been a welcome news story for all Celtic fans and one that would certainly unite us all and send out a positive message but that boat has long sailed. The season of good will, I don’t think so

Peter Lawwell said at the end of his statement “Later this month, Celtic will attempt what no other club in the world has achieved – a quadruple treble in domestic competitions. We can best prepare for that and for our other remaining competitions this season by moving forward together, with the sole aim of achieving continued success for the Club.”

Every Celtic Fan wants to celebrate a quadruple treble but moving forward together will be harder, first we need to heal the rift between the fans first. Maybe that healing process can start on Saturday when the Celtic Trust hold an open meeting on Zoom between 1 and 2.

We may not trust the Celtic board but WE trusted the Celtic Trust with the OBA and we trusted them when our fans were attacked, beaten up and imprisoned in Amsterdam. Maybe they can get answers from the real power players at Celtic, Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawell about the current direction of the club which has divided a support who should be enjoying this historical season as one wise man recently commented on Twitter.

How did it get to this stage that we as a Celtic support are so divided on how or who should lead the team on and off the park and take the club further. It’s Toxic viewing and reading at times. I have seen good mates fall out because they love Celtic but disagree on a way forward.

Last night the club released a statement which if true I could not argue with but I was not at the ground and I have learned over the years not to trust the media or reprint or share their comments or views. I have seen too many false headlines. I agree with fans having the right to protest but history has shown us that peaceful protest is the best way forward in the long run.

Like most fans I am confused and dazed today once again about the lack of clarity from the board room about the current situation at the club which is not going to go away. Leaks to the press do not cut it. Covid-19 has stripped us of normality in our lives, not being able to attend games has been a massive frustration for all of us.

Important things are missing this season your regular football fix, the pints in the pub with your mates, the singsong, the passion and emotion that 90 minutes backing your team brings, the highs of winning and the lows of defeat but you’re never alone you have your mates who have always got your back.

I hope Neil Lennon decides that enough is enough and moves on with his life, because I don’t see anything from the players to suggest that they have his back. I’m no football expert, I’m just a fan so sharing my opinion on his coaching on the training pitch or his instructions in the dressing room would be pointless.

I can only go on his achievements at Celtic and they are impressive 20 major medals as a player and manager. His legacy at the club is secured no matter what happens now. I thought Neil and the team had it in them to go on a run in December but on yesterday’s performance, I think not. Maybe I am blinded by my love for the club. I lay in bed last night still in a kind of state of shock and I wondered what thoughts must be going through Neil Lennon’s head, not Lennon the manager but Lennon the person.

When enemies turn on you it’s easier to deal with because you expect it but when it’s your own who turn on you it must be hard. We are all human after all with emotions and feelings no matter how hard we may look on the outside or on the field of play.

It’s a shame but Love HAS Torn Us Apart…….

Peter Lawell has been taken hostage by a group of Celtic Fans claiming to represent the Peoples Front of Celtic and not the Celtic Peoples Front as first thought. Four fans dressed in all black and green with Green and White Adidas Retro trainers are said to have managed to get into the Celtic boardroom and take Peter Lawell Hostage.

Earlier during a protest outside Celtic Park after Celtic were knocked out of the League Cup, video footage shows four fans breaking through a barrier but they were chased back by Police Officers in Yellow Jackets towards the Pool Office.

It is believed that the fans then enterted the board room from the main stand where they found Peter Lawell sipping on a Gin and Tonic while plotting his next Zoom meeting with Neil Lennon and Dermot Desmond.

The fans have demanded that Belgium manager, Roberto Martinez be flown into Celtic Park within 12 hours to replace Neil Lennon or Peter Lawell will be forced to eat the fast food tripe that is served up to fans on match day.

It is believed that the fans have been brain washed by listening to Podcasts on an almost hourly basis while reading 24 hour headlines on Social Media about Neil Lennon and who should replace him.

Donald Trump, Martin O’Neill, Eddie Howe, Mark Hughes and Jack Ross were all unavailable to speak to us although a bloke on a facebook page has confirmed all five were called by Peter Lawell over the last few days.

Dermot Desmond was unavailable for comment when we contacted his office but a bloke on twitter said he saw him down the Gallowgate with Gordon Strachan eating a fish supper. As we go to print we can not confirm the sighting but it may be FAKE NEWS.

Celtic Chairman, Iain Bankier has said that Celtic FC PLC will not talk to Celtic Fans but they could submit any questions at this years virtual AGM.

Neil Lennon will be hoping that Ross County will not cause a major upset today with his position in the Celtic hotseat under pressure but he will take comfort that the board are still backing him via Zoom and that he still has the backing of some of the Celtic support to turn things around starting today as we start the defence of the League Cup and hope to continue the amazing domestic cup runs.

A quick look at the SPFL table suggests that although Celtic have underperformed to the standard they have set over the last number of seasons. The visitors will not be coming with much confidence. They sit 9^th in the league with a record of Played 15, Won 3, Drawn 3 and lost 9 including a 5-0 defeat to Celtic in Dingwall when 300 home fans were allowed into the stadium back in September.

That day we witnessed a dream debut for man of the match, Shane Duffy with a goal and a clean sheet, since then he has lost his place after he replaced Greg Taylor as the player that the keyboard kings among our support like to abuse and blame for all our woes. With both now resigned to the bench, its Neil Lennon who has had to shoulder all the blame.

Also that day, Edouard opened the scoring after only 4 minutes from the penalty spot. The other goal scorers were Ajeti, Ajer and Klimala. Lets hope the players can deliver a solid performance with plenty of goals to ease the pressure on the manager for at least a few days until we travel to Milan for a game which hopefully will see us get a look at squad players who have had limited playing time.

On paper it looks like an easy win but we have to play them on grass. Kick-off is 2pm and it is part of our virtual season tickets and will also be shown on Premier Sports.

I expect my long suffering wife to exit the building before kick-off to get away from my muttering and ranting.

Under Pressure, two words to describe Neil Lennon. Social Media is awash with comments and opinions, some fans are making very good points on why he should be sacked and why he should be given more time. I have no time for abusive or personal comments made towards OUR Manager.

Other fans have thought that unfurling a banner, naming him alone for all our current woes is the correct action and others have thought an abusive bed sheet is how to get your point across.

So where do I stand on all this, does my opinion matter in the greater scheme of things, most likely not! But I will back Neil Lennon till he is sacked because I don’t believe he will walk away, would you?

The Pressure has been put on his shoulders for delivering the 10 and his alone. Not the players, Not the coaching staff, Not the fans, Not the head of recruitment and Not the board whose silence remains deafening. In Europe we have been terrible and in Scotland performances have been average with the exception of the Rangers game when WE were rubbish.

So why am I backing Neil Lennon, I am backing the manager because with the exception of both Europa League games in December against AC Milan and Lille which are now dead ducks but offer a chance to get game time for squad players, which is much needed.

I think we are capable of winning every game domestically and if we don’t then Neil Lennon will be removed and a new manager put in place. Whatever happens, Neil Lennon will remain a club hero for what he has done as a player and manager for Celtic and what he has had to put up with since arriving in Glasgow, when he was attacked and had death threats, he stood tall and faced the bigots down.

St. Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Ross County and Dundee United all have to come to Celtic Park in the league and our only away trip is to Hamilton.

Throw into the mix a home League Cup tie against Ross County and a Cup Final against Hearts where we will be playing for a domestic clean sweep from last season and a quadruple treble.

If we are not in touching distance of Rangers after we play them on Saturday 2^nd of January then Neil Lennon’s time will be up and a new manager will be appointed and he will have 20 games to turn it around including two against the Rangers.

Strange how the banner outside Celtic Park made the headlines yet when the Celtic fans who turned up at Motherwell to show their support for Neil Lennon and the team outside the stadium did not.…. Just saying!

The Internationals are over and now we wait in hope that all players have returned free from injury and Covid-19 and are fit and ready for Hibs on Saturday. The last international break was the disaster for Celtic players between those catching the virus and those deemed to have been in close contact with an international teammate who contracted the virus.

News of vaccines is good news as we look forward to returning to watch the football but sadly it may not be here in time for any of us to return to Paradise this season. Up the road from me the IFA allowed 1,000 fans in to social distance and watch their team in Windsor Park. Not ideal but it’s a start and an increase in numbers that seen 300 fans watch Celtic in Dingwall when we beat Ross County.

International break for me normally means running a bus to Dublin to watch Ireland or get on a plane and catch an away game and maybe get to see a new city but these days it’s a mix of walking the dog and watching the games on TV. Scottish players and fans enjoyed qualifying for the Euros next summer and well done to all involved. Hopefully fans will be able to attend games because the hospitality industry in Glasgow could do with a boost.

Talking of hospitality, I was very glad to see McChuill’s Bar opening as a Café and launch a crowd funder to save the bar from closure. Nick and the staff are delighted with the support they have received even Bez from the Happy Mondays has given them a shoutout. I’ve so many memories of sessions in the High Street Venue. A place you could bump into Celtic players over the years or bands before they played the famous Barrowlands.

A brilliant pub which has hosted many a great night of music and craic. Only last December I hosted an Evening with Rudi Vata there with special guests, Celtic Minded author, Dr. Joe Bradley and Paul Sheridan from the Wakes and I can’t wait to get back for a few beers and to catch up with the regulars when I can travel again.

We took a break earlier in the week and did not record our usual Tuesday show as Ronan our producer is studying hard for his Masters’ degree, in music technology and I was kept busy posting and packing T-Shirts and Fanzines. Not bad having such a talented lad around More than 90 Minutes Tower.

The good news is we are back tomorrow with Episode 42 of the Celtic Soul Podcast when I will be chatting to former Celtic player, George McCluskey. George a familiar face around Barrowfield and Lennoxtown as part of the Celtic coaching staff and on match day at Celtic Park in the Hospitality suites with Dixie Deans and Bobby Lennox.

On the pitch George played over 200 times for the Tic and scored over 80 goals for Celtic. Managed by both Billy McNeill and Jock Stein he played alongside names Danny McGrain, Kenny Dalglish, Jimmy Johnstone and Charlie Nicholas. Really looking forward to talking to him tomorrow. Podcasts have given us something to listen to if you are working from home, commuting to or from work or out walking the dog. Fair play to all the Celtic Podcasters out there keeping us entertained and informed.

Tradition returns this weekend when Celtic a have a very rare away game on a Saturday at 3pm. Easter Road 3pm Saturday afternoon could be magic, smell of pies, the noise, the songs, the history but NO it’s back to the armchair for most of us!

It’s a tough task for Neil Lennon and the Bhoys but let us hope they can produce a bit of magic and get us off our seats. We could all do with a little lockdown lift and the team can produce another positive result and performance after a mixed batch of both before the international break it would be the perfect tonic to another dark winters night stuck at home.
