Is John Kennedy still in charge of football matters at Celtic? as the wait continues for the announcement of a new manager. So many questions to be answered?
No Manager, No idea when we will get back at Celtic Park, No news on who is staying or who is leaving the playing squad, No idea if the stranger who became your friend on match days is renewing his book, No idea what to spend your £50 voucher on if you do renew. I’m beginning to say No more than a loyal unionist at a DUP Anglo Irish Agreement protest.
Yes there I’ve said it, Yes we have a mountain to climb to qualify for the Champions League when we will find out on the June 16 if we will play Galatasaray, Midtjylland or Rapid Vienna in our first game in July. In normal circumstances we would already be working out routes and flight prices for all travel options and pre booking rooms in all three destinations with the option to cancel of course.
Thankfully Celtic have announced that they will opt out of a trip to Dubai and instead will be heading for Wales for a pre-season camp which should keep the SNP happy and disappoint the tabloids who love a little video of the team relaxing around the pool to flash a headline or two up on their websites or in the morning rag.
Anyway the pre-season does not look all that glamourous and even less now that reality has sunk in that I will most likely be watching on a dodgy stream via Celtic TV beamed in on the dodgy box which is shite at the best of times.
The press release from Celtic says high flying West Ham will visit Celtic Park, I wish I was high flying, I haven’t seen a queue in an airport for well over a year, or heard that bugle sound when you land with Ryanair on the Tarmac in Glasgow.
You know those flights when you thought you got a bargain with your €20 flight until you realised you spent more on a taxi to the airport, a small fortune for a breakfast and you have had to put a round of drinks on your Credit Card in the bar and that’s before you bought a warm half can of lager on the plane for €6 oh how I long to be ripped off again before landing and realising that the 10 ticket package you bought for the bus into the city went out of date over 6 months ago.
Those were the days but serious who is running our football department in the absence of a new Manager and a football department?
