More Drama at Celtic Park

5:30pm kick offs on a Saturday may not be for everyone but for those of us travelling from Dublin Airport and lucky enough to live within a short drive or bus journey from the airport it was ideal.

The later than usual kick off gave us the option of flying out later in the morning or for me at 13:50 and we had very little time for hanging around Glasgow to get the 22:30 flight home. No red eye flights is always a bonus.

Celtic Park was quieter than usual as I walked up Paradise Way. The fans boycott of the game impacted that but it was not until I got to my seat just before kick off did I really see how much support there was for the boycott. The stadium was half empty.

I was asked why we did not boycott the game. Some of the More than 90 Minutes crew attended the game some others chose not to attend the game. Big shout out to Michael Pringle who was boycotting the game but still made the time to pick me up and drop me at Celtic Park before he went to watch the game on TV.

From a personal point of view I think it would be dishonest of me to report on the impact of the boycott from the comfort of my sitting room watching the game on TV. Yes you can write a match report from watching on TV but you can not write about the fan experience if you are not at the game.

Last weekend due to work commitments I was unable to attend the Falkirk game and watched on TV. I was asked why I did not write about the fans chants of Sack the Board. The answer was simple I was not there to report on it.

When the game kicked off yesterday pockets of Celtic fans tried their best to get the songs going but it was not sustained without the drums and colour of Green Brigade and the Bhoys the only noise you could hear was coming from the Dundee Fans in the away section. Chants of what a Shite home support and keep the board could be heard but when they sang the Billy Boys it was drowned out by Celtic fans boos.

Celtic continued their unbeaten run since the return of Martin O’Neill. The team always seems to find a way to win and on an evening of late drama in Glasgow it was no different. It was all even at half time as we sipped our Bovril and scoffed our steak pies.

Dundee had proved hard to breakdown in the first half and scored a cracking to goal to put them ahead early in the second half. As the game wore on the moans and groans of Celtic fans got loader until a late goal brought Celtic back from the dead as seconds ticked down on a Scottish Cup exit.

With the clock ticking down 3 or 4 Celtic fans sitting in front of the Celtic directors turned their attention to the Celtic board shouting at them to just go!

What a debut from second half sub Adamu his back heel sent us into wild celebrations. Tounekti another second half sub done brilliant with his assist and in extra time he scored the winner.

The officials in charge had another poor day allowing Dundee to run the clock down and while Celtic were not allowed when the tide turned . Then there was the penalty claim inside or outside the box. Video shows inside those on VAR saw it with orange tinted specs.

Kieran Tierney sustained a head injury in extra time and lay still on the ground. Always worrying to see. His replacement was Saracchi. He returned from injury and he was a joy to watch. His pass selection is impressive and he can be an important player for Celtic if he stays fit.  The arrival of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain when match fit could also be a game changer.

The Celtic board will finally start to talk to Celtic Supporters representatives during the week although as I write to my knowledge they have not extended the invitation to the Celtic Collective or the Celtic Trust. If the relationship between the Celtic board and the Celtic Support is to be mended talks should be all inclusive and transparent.

Drama in the East End of Glasgow

There is never a dull moment at Celtic after another week of drama in the East End of Glasgow.

Sunday 01: On loan striker Tomáš Čvančara opened his scoring account for Celtic at Celtic Park against Falkirk. Benjamin Nygren kept his impressive scoring record from midfield. Falkirk made it hard for Celtic but Martin O’Neill’s unbeaten run both in Scotland and in Europe continues since returning after the Nancy’s 33 days in charge.

Monday 02: Celtic sign 3 players on loan as the transfer window closes and send out 2 first team squad players on loan. In comes Junior Adamo, Benjamin Arthur and Joel Mvuka. Stephen Welsh goes back to Motherwell for regular first team football and Johnny Kenny headed down south to Bolton.

Tuesday 03: The Celtic Fans Collective meet in Glasgow and the outcome is a call for a boycott of the Dundee Cup game on Saturday. Celtic fans remain split of the decision.

Free Agent Alex Oxlade Chamberlain continues talks with Celtic to sign for six months. He is club less and training with Arsenal. A Premier League and a Champions League winner a fit Chamberlain could be a great signing.

Hearts are beaten by St. Mirren in Paisley.

Wednesday 04: Celtic’s game with Aberdeen in Pittodrie is called off due to a water logged pitch. The rangers beat Kilmarnock and move 3 points ahead of Celtic into second in the SPFL and close the gap to 3 points behind SPFL leaders Hearts.

Thursday 05: Celtic interim Chairman, Brian Wilson speaks to Celtic TV and addresses Unity talks between the club and Celtic supporters going forward. Celtic have contacted individual groups about meeting but as yet have not contacted the Celtic Fans Collective which represents the majority of the Celtic supporter groupings.

Friday 06: Martin O’Neill in his press conference confirms that Alex Oxlade Chamberlain could become a Celtic player over the weekend but his signing is too late to be included in the Europa League squad. O’Neill confirmed of the 5 new loan signings that Benjamin Arthur and Joel Mvuka are not included in the squad. Julian Arajo, Tomáš Čvančara and Junior Adamu are in the squad for Stuttgart games.

Miller, Thompson & Johnston confirmed for Celtic Festival in Spain

Rosie Maguire’s are delighted to announce another 3 Special Celtic Festival Guests. Former Celtic players Joe Miller, Tommy Johnston and Alan Thompson will be joining Celtic fans from around the globe at Europe’s Biggest End of Season Party on the Costa Blanca. The Event takes place Thursday 04 June to Sunday 07 June.

The Bhoys will be joining former Celts Peter Grant, Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly for plenty of fun in the sun.

Super Joe Miller is the goal scoring hero of the Scottish Cup in 1989 at Hampden. His goal that day stopped big spending Rangers doing a treble. He was also part of the famous 1988 Centenary double winning team. Born in the shadows of Celtic Park in that famous year of 1967 he was signed for Celtic from Aberdeen in 1987 by Billy McNeill and made his debut in the 5-0 win over Dundee.

Tommy Johnston will always be remembered for the goal that won Martin O’Neill his first league title at Celtic Park in front of 60,000 fans against St. Mirren. Under O’Neill, Tommy was part of the treble winning team that season. He was the late great Tommy Burns last signing for Celtic. He was part of the double winning 1997/98 team when Celtic stopped the 10IAR and was on target when Celtic beat Aberdeen in the League Cup final in 2000.

Alan Thompson what a signing he turned out to be by Martin O’Neill and what a left foot. He scored so many memorable goals in the hoops including some crackers in big games against Rangers, Barcelona and Liverpool. He was no stranger to red cards against Rangers picking up 3 in total and who can forget his contribution on the road to Seville for the UEFA Cup Final.

Celtic Fans Collective – Boycott of Dundee game on Saturday

Following the latest disappointing transfer window, the Celtic Fans Collective met last night to discuss the ongoing campaign for positive change at the football club.

An overwhelming majority of supporters’ club representatives, fan group representatives, and independent supporters voted in favour of a boycott of Saturday evening’s cup match against Dundee.

With supporters unjustly banned, fan media locked out, and an executive team widely regarded as unfit for purpose, the clear feeling within the Collective was that the time for action is now. While we recognise the difficult and emotional toll this decision will have on many Celtic supporters, we invite and encourage fans to stand with us in sending a clear and unequivocal message to Celtic FC: you must take decisive action, initiate meaningful change and restore positive communication with supporters.

The Celtic Fans Collective has agreed on three key areas the club must address to prevent the boycott and further protest action:

  1. The removal of Michael Nicholson as CEO
    2. The reinstatement of the Green Brigade
    3. The lifting of access restrictions on all fan media organisations, allowing them to cover both the men’s and women’s teams once again.

Following Brian Wilson’s call for unity four weeks ago, the Celtic Fans Collective offered to meet with the Chairman to discuss how this unity could be achieved at the club.
Unfortunately, that offer was ignored. Despite this, we remain open to further engagement.
In the meantime, the Celtic Fans Collective will begin the process of planning and coordinating further protest action in the coming weeks.

Another Big Week for Celtic on and of the Park : Celtic Soul Podcast

Glasgow Journalist Michael Pringle joins More than 90 Minutes Editor Andrew Milne to look back at the Hearts game at Tynecastle on Sunday and to look forward to another Europa Night at Celtic Park as Celtic head into a another big week.

Celtic fans frustration continues to grow with the Celtic Board at the lack of urgency in the transfer market and Celtic interim Chairman, Brian Wilson’s refusal to meet with Celtic Fans Representatives

The Green Brigade area remains closed in the front of the North Curve section of the ground but members of the Ultra group are still attending games home and away and you would imagine they will be there on Thursday Night supporting the team.

Grab the last of the PRINT copies of More than 90 Minutes #140

More than 90 Minutes Celtic Fanzine Issue 140 has been posted out to everyone who pre-ordered along with our subscribers. Incredible to think there is still a market for a printed fanzine in the digital age we live.

2026 marks 25 years since the fanzine first went on sale outside Celtic Park. Martin O’Neill was manager back then and Henrik Larsson was creating his legacy. We are still going strong thanks you our readers support. Grab a copy of the NEW issue now and we will post a copy straight through your letter box

Inside this issue we look back at 2025 and look ahead to 2026. The Celtic Board, The Celtic Fans Collective, Transfers, The Desmond’s and three Celtic managers are all topics covered by our team of writers as we enter uncertain times at OUR club.

Liam Scales features in this issue, he still has World Cup dreams while Celtic’s Scottish Internationals look forward to the tournament in the Summer. The state of play is not positive at Celtic. The Celtic board continue to stumble from week to week and as we go to print they still have not signed a decent striker in over 12 months.

Celtic fans from Ireland and beyond are getting shafted with fixtures changed to Sunday. Everyone knows that failure to qualify for the Champions League means Sunday fixtures after Europa Cup games but the Hearts game being changed to a Sunday for TV was another kick in the teeth for fans and more money down the drain on travel and hotels. We look at the fall out!

We also look back at how Celtic was in the dark days of the 1990’s but was the match day experience better on the terrace back then? One for the Celtic Da’s and Celtic Grand Da’s to answer. Away from home we cover the trip to Rotterdam for the Feyenoord game. A  bit of light in a dark season in Europe.

Spanish based Tim, Danny Reilly talks to us about is first, worst and best games following Celtic. Mick Hillman features in our Fan Focus and Frank Costello brings us up to date with following Celtic from his home in Galway.

Martin O’Neill echoes the words of Brendan Rodgers

It was an early start this morning to catch the 4am 100x bus to Dublin airport for an early flight to Glasgow. I must have left it late to book for this match as the only reason I can think I would have booked this early flight was because it was cheap.

Like so many Celtic fans I didn’t get a ticket in the ballot for Tynecastle on Sunday and watched the game on Sky and the penalty debate rages on after Celtic appealed it only for it to be thrown out by the Forces of Darkness in Scottish Football.

Martin O’Neill spoke to media yesterday at the pre-match press conference and he talked about if reinforcements come in the squad and more importantly if they are quality signings.

He also said there is still work going on behind the scenes. He shared the worries of the Celtic fans of what might happen if we don’t get some of the quality signings he spoke about.

Tonight we face Utrecht  in the Europa League when I checked yesterday there were still tickets available for a big European night with qualification certain to the knock out stages if Celtic can win the game. The game may sell out today but some Celtic fans have had enough of the Celtic’s boards performance and have decided to vote with their feet and keep their money in their pocket.

Another of our Japanese summer signings Shin Yamada headed out on loan after failing to make any impact on three Celtic managers. Full back Hayato Inamura went out on loan earlier in the month as predicted by Brendan Rodgers back in the summer.

We wait in hope for that quality that O’Neill has asked for as he echoes the words of Rodgers at the start of the season. The managers may have changed but the conversation remains the same!

Another Big Week for Celtic on and off the Park

Like last week Celtic go into this week with two games. One in Europe and one in the SPFL. Let us hope we can keep 11 players on the field for both of the games after having to play with 10 men in both of last weeks game which both finished with 2-2. The controversial sending off of Auston Trusty on Sunday will be appealed by Celtic.

A share of the spoils in Europe was considered a good result away from home in Italy against Bolonga ahead of this weeks home tie against Utrecht. If Celtic win that game they will qualify for the knock out stages and another Europa night under the lights at Celtic Park and another European away adventure for the fans to enjoy.

After Thursday nights Europa League game all thoughts will then turn to the visit of an inform Falkirk team to Celtic Park. After Sundays share of the spoils at Tynecastle, Hearts are now in pole position in the League 6 points ahead of Celtic. With the rangers beating Dundee 3-0 at Ibrox on Sunday they now move above Celtic into second in the league.

The league is still a three horse race but Martin O’Neill will need to get some new players in before the transfer window slams shut. Celtic fans frustration at the speed that Celtic are doing business in this transfer window is there for all to see. More and more Celtic fans are now voicing their concerns about those running OUR club.

The Celtic Fans Collective have released a statement and will hold another meeting next week to see what actions will be taken next after failing to get Interim Celtic chairman Brian Wilson to meet with Fan Representatives.

A full house is expected on Thursday night at Paradise and unlike so many games in Europe, Celtic will not be underdogs and will go into the game as favourites. Utrecht sit near the bottom of the Europa League table and mid-table in the Dutch League.
