Celtic Return after International Break

With the international break now done and dusted all thoughts will now turn to our trip to Dundee on Sunday. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that his players will take up where they left off against Motherwell with that late winner that sent us off into the international break happy after the 3-2 win.

Hopefully that win can see us kick on now after some poor performances. The Celtic Fans Collective met with the Celtic Board during the break before the Collective met again on Thursday night in Glasgow with other Celtic fan reps. joining the meeting via zoom to discuss the outcome of the meeting with the Celtic board and the next steps in the campaign.

The next steps will be Not Another Penny campaign asking for Celtic fans not to buy merchandise, food and drinks at Celtic Park, boycott Stadium tours, bars, restaurants and Celtic-run events. My only fear with these actions is that workers will lose their jobs.

As usual the demand for away tickets will far out strip the allocation from Dundee for the noon kick off on Sunday. Dundee come into the game with only six points and sitting 2 points above Aberdeen who hammered them 4-0 in their last game before the international break.

It’s been a rough start for the former Celtic player Stephen Pressley since taking over as manager at Dundee. In the SPFL he has seen his Dundee side also losing to Hibs on the opening day of the season as well as St. Mirren and in the local derby v Dundee United. Their only win of the league campaign came at home to Livingston. They have also picked up points at home to Motherwell on the road at Ibrox and Rugby Park.

Celtic fans will be expecting goals and all 3 points on Sunday to keep pressure on current SPFL leaders Hearts who travel to Kilmarnock for a 17:45 kick on Saturday. Let’s hope Killie can do us a favour on their plastic pitch ahead of our visit to Tynecastle the following Sunday.

The bookies make Celtic 1 to 4 on with draw 11/2 and a home win for Dundee 11/1. If you’re not travelling to the game it is being shown live on Sky Sports and streamed outside Ireland and the UK on Celtic TV.

Celtic Fans Collective – Meeting with Celtic Board

Yesterday evening, 06/10/2025, the Celtic Fans Collective met with Celtic Football Club to discuss the collective concerns of the Celtic support. The meeting was to seek answers to the questions addressed to the Celtic Board in the Open Letter of 03/09/2025 which amassed over 420 signatories, as well as to understand what lessons have been learned and what changes will be made to avoid similar mistakes being repeated. Representing the Celtic Board at the meeting was Michael Nicholson, Chief Executive Officer, and Chris McKay, Chief Financial Officer. Also in attendance from Celtic Football Club was John Paul Taylor, Supporter Liaison Officer; Kevin McQuillan, Head of Commercial Operations; George Campbell, Head of Legal and Governance; Mark Hargreaves, Head of Safety, Security and Operations.

At the beginning of the meeting, a representative of the Collective clearly laid out the context which brought us to this point and set out the Collective’s expectations of the meeting. It was made clear that the Collective expected reasonable answers to the existing questions and some form of tangible action points moving forward. The Collective acknowledged that while the positions of Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay are in our view untenable, there was no expectation of agreement or progress on that during the meeting and discussions would remain respectful and constructive.

The meeting was structured by working through the questions of the Open Letter, although there was some natural deviation. A recurring theme, through all answers and discussions, was a lack of humility, awareness and accountability. At various points, the Club deferred to communication and perception being the causes of concern rather than structure, performance or culture. The Club also repeatedly questioned or rejected the premise of questions.

The Club defended its footballing strategy although accepted it could be better communicated to fans. Overall, the Club believes the football strategy is working and pointed to participation in European competition as evidence of its success.

Similarly, the Club defended its transfer strategy citing different factors for transfer activity being difficult (for example tax laws in different European countries) while pointing to examples which they believe is evidence of the strategy working.

The Club said that transfer business involves a multi-disciplinary model and no part of that model has ultimate authority, however did cede that there are thresholds where the Board of Directors must authorise increased transfer payments. When pressed on this point, the Club claimed emails would be sent to Board members for authorisation where necessary.

When pressed on accountability for failings, the Club rejected the premise of the question but referred to internal reviews and the experience of long-serving Non-Executive Directors. The Club provided little evidence of independent oversight and no belief that substantive change may be required.

The allegation of a senior Club official briefing against the Manager to The Sun was described as “closed” by Michael Nicholson. The Club was unwilling to divulge much information although claimed a conversation took place between the Board and the Manager. The Club suggested that the allegation was unsubstantiated and did not require further investigation.

In conclusion, the Collective expressed disappointment that the Club remained unwilling to engage meaningfully on questions of leadership, governance, and accountability. The meeting produced no tangible outcomes, and many participants left with the view that the Club’s leadership remains detached from the concerns of its supporters and reluctant to confront the need for change.

Full minutes of the meeting will be published as soon as possible.

The Celtic Fans Collective will continue to consult with members to plan next steps in our campaign for positive change at Celtic Football Club. It is our strong belief that yesterday’s meeting compounded the necessity and urgency of change.

Can Kel’s goals shoot Celtic to victory

Brendan Rodgers now knows what players he has to pick from and the new arrivals to the club have received a mixed reaction from the manager. He asked for quality but he has seemed to be given a mixed bunch of talent from Celtic’s recruitment team.

Kelechi Iheanacho is a player he knows very well from his time at Leicester and since he arrived on loan after the transfer window shut he has opened his scoring account both domestically and in Europe. Showing balls of steal to come off the bench and score a last minute winning penalty against Kilmarnock. Can Kel’s goals shoot Celtic to victory.

He also came off the bench to score against Red Star Belgrade in Serbia and had plenty of chances on Saturday to open his scoring account in front of the Celtic Park faithful but failed to do so. I think it will happen sooner rather than later and he is now our number one striker.

His arrival will relieve the pressure on Daizen Maeda who had hoped to leave the club in the Summer after picking up Scottish player of the year last season. It looks like he will move on in January. Until then he may be asked to play on the right wing as he was on Saturday against Hibs with Tunisian winger Sebastian Tounekti now looking like the managers first choice on the left wing.

HIBS GREAT ESCAPE

It was the Hibs fans who were celebrating after 94 minutes earlier today on a wet Saturday afternoon at Celtic Park after pulling off a great escape against the Champions. 0-0 the final scoreline as the Celtic players missed chance after chance to win the game. Hibs came to defend and were rewarded with a point with their goalkeeper the best player they had on display. He got a little help from the woodwork of which he will be grateful.

Hearts now sit top of the Scottish Premiership table after a 3-0 win over Falkirk at Tynecastle. Elsewhere Kilmarnock beat Dundee United 2-0. St. Mirren beat Dundee 1-0 and Aberdeen remain bottom of the table after a 0-0 draw at Motherwell. Rangers travel to Livingston on Sunday to complete this weekends fixtures.

There was a silent protest for 12 minutes organised by the Celtic Fans Collective before the Green Brigade and the Bhoys Ultras brought the stadium to life in song and drum beats. During the first 12 minutes a banner in the North Curve read Your Silence is Deafening in response to the boards refusal to engage in a meaningful way with the Celtic fanbase.

At full time 2 young fans approached the Directors Box to have a pop at the Celtic board members. I could not hear what they were saying but they did not look happy. The board members retreated back to the boardroom after Brendan and the players went down the tunnel but not before having to listen to plenty of verbal.

Frustration on the pitch for the Celtic players on the pitch and off it as fan unrest continues to grow. If the Celtic board were hoping things would blow over with a few wins, they will have to think again after another scoreless draw. Next up Braga on Thursday night at Celtic Park and another silent protest.

Brendan Rodgers has called for unity but the trust is just not there between the supporters and those running the club. Tickets are still on sale for the Braga game and we could be looking at plenty of empty seats in Paradise instead of the SOLD OUT signs up.

Memories of Ronnie Delia and an empty top tier in the Lisbon Lions stand come flooding back into my mind as I type.

Collective Action

Its seems like ages since we travelled for a home game at Celtic Park. The last time we played at Celtic Park we beat Livingston 3-0 in the SPFL after witnessing an under par performance from the bhoys against Kairat in the Champions League play off a few days previous.  At 0-0 we still thought we could travel to Asia and get a result only to lose out on penalties.

Frustration was already mounting with the current Celtic board and their refusal to back Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market. The Celtic managers frustration was there for all to see and hear in interviews and at press conferences.

Celtic fans have since organised under an umbrella called Celtic Fans Collective and today they will continue their protests at Celtic Park with a silent protest to highlight the Celtic boards silence in refusing to address the concerns of the Celtic fanbase.

Since our last visit to Celtic Park we have won 2 and drawn 2 on the road and have reached the semi-final of the League Cup to set up a clash with the rangers at Hampden after a comfortable win over Partick Thistle.

Today Hibs are the visitors and after last seasons strong campaign they currently sit in fourth place in the SPFL after 1 win and 4 draws so far this season. Brendan Rodgers may make some changes to the starting 11 which got a decent away point against an inform Red Star Belgrade on Thursday night in Serbia.

The game will not be shown live in the UK or Ireland but will be streamed by Celtic TV for subscribers outside Ireland and the UK and those with a dodgy box or firestick. Kick off is 3pm and Celtic are 1/4 with the bookies. A Hibs win is 11/1 with the draw 11/2.

Celtic Fans Collective & Red Star Away

Celtic take on Red Star Belgrade tonight in the opening game of this seasons Europa League campaign. All the dreams of playing in this seasons Champions League have now faded into the memory of another qualifier that didn’t go to plan.

On Sunday Celtic fans continued to protest about the current Celtic board at Firhill and highlighted the failures to qualify for Europes Elite competition over numerous seasons because of lack of ambition in the board room.

It was a very comfortable win on Sunday for Celtic. A 4-0 win to set up a League Cup semi-final against the rangers who beat Hibs 2-0 at Ibrox to ease a little bit of the pressure off their managar Russell Martin. The rangers poor league start has left them second from bottom going into this weekends SPFL fixtures.

The Celtic fans group will now go under the one Umbrella called Celtic Fans Collective as they continue to put pressure on the current Celtic board. They have been invited to a meeting with the board to discuss Policing of the Glasgow Derby game back in March.Below is the response from the group.

Celtic fans have been warned to be careful ahead of tonights game in Serbia. Yesterday 2 Celtic fans went to do a tour of the staduim wearing Celtic jerseys and were set on by Red Star fans and got a bad beating. Travelling fans have been advised to stick together in groups and buses have been arranged to take fans to the ground later.

Buses for Celtic fans in Belgrade will run from 17:30 from Student Square, advice is that fans should make use of the buses to travel to the stadium. Buses will take fans back after the match. Stadium opens at 18:00 and a holdback of c.45 mins is expected after the match.

For those who have not travelled to Serbia the game will be shown live on TNT 2, Premier Sports 1 and streamed on Celtic TV. Kick Off is 8pm Celtic Park Time.
