The morning after the night before and it’s a beautiful Monday if you’re a Celtic fan. After the dismal 0-0 performance at Ibrox earlier in the season yesterday was like stepping back in time. With Martin O’Neill in a retro Adidas tracksuit waving at the end of the game to the Celtic fans to acknowledge everyone singing his name.
I have so many memories of his time in charge against Rangers but Sunday was all about new heroes including a young man from County Sligo called Johnny Kenny who opened the scoring for Celtic after a great high tempo dominate start to the game by the Bhoys.
In the other dugout Danny Rohl dressed in the rangers blazer which I have to say looks like it is too big for him and maybe it is one of their previous mangers left in the rangers managers office. With money tight at the club and managers coming in every few months the new owners are probably waiting to see if he keeps his job before getting him fitted for his own blazer.
On the field there were goals, a red card and a dodgy rangers penalty. In the stands both sets of fans were in full voice getting behind the teams until Celtic took control in extra time and scored 2 goals to wrap the game up.

When Callum McGregor scored that cracker of a goal the rangers fans who don’t do walking away? Started to walk away when the youngster Callum Osmand opened his scoring account for Celtic to make it 3-1 the rangers fans could not get out of the Hampden Park quick enough. They love a walk but on this occasion it was more of a steady run.
They were up to their knees in Fenian blood and sang about the famine being over why don’t you go home. Celtic fans are proud to be the descendants of Irish immigrants and proud of the unbroken club history. Sadly here in Ireland now we have people being brain washed by American and British far right politics on social media. With some so called concerned residents standing with loyalists at protests against immigrants into Ireland.
Some people should take time to read some history books rather than filling social media with hate filled comments. As my son Conor said to me everyone should have a safe home and I hope he gets one as an immigrant in Canda which is his and girlfriend Daryl Ann new home. They have been treated so well and welcomed into homes of other Irish emigrants and of course the Celtic family.
After the game yesterday I stepped back in time, myself and met up with some old friends in a pub close to Hampden for a good sing song and a couple of pints before heading back to the airport. The flight was packed with Celtic fans and plenty of familiar faces. I am sure Monday clubs around the globe will be enjoyable today for Celtic fans still out celebrating.
St. Mirren now await in December as Celtic get a chance of more silverware the questions is will Celtic have a new manager in place by then or will we be marching once again O’Neill to the national stadium?
