Martin O’Neill made plenty of changes to the starting 11 who beat Auchinleck Talbot for the Scottish Cup game at Rugby Park. He brought a number of fringe players in but still stuck with captain Callum McGregor to anchor the midfield.

Celtic were in control of the game for 90 minutes. Johnny Kenny finally found his shooting boots to open the scoring before second half substitute Tounekti scored a cracker to make it 2-0 on the night.

The Scottish junior side had to play their home game at Rugby Park after the powers that be in the SFA made them move the game from their home ground. This led to some of their fans opting to watch the game in their club house.

Those running the club will be delighted with the cash windfall from drawing Celtic and the manager can be proud of his players who defended very well and left everything on Kilmarnock’s  plastic pitch.

Celtic will now face Dundee at Celtic Park in the next round of the Scottish Cup. Martin O’Neill will be happy with the win and the home draw in the next round hopefully those running Celtic can bring in the players he needs to strengthen the team.
