RACE TO THE TITLE

news
18 April 2024

The post-split fixtures have been announced, and the flights have been booked as we look forward to the last 5 games. It looks like it could go to the wire but as we have seen this season both Celtic and the rangers have dropped points at the weekend and last night with Dundee sharing the points with our arch rivals.

Ross County beating our main title rivals from across the city was a surprise and a joy to watch on TV in Glasgow last Sunday. I always enjoy a Sunday session in Glasgow and as we followed the music around popular Celtic pubs the result seemed to make a dark rainy cold day just that little brighter and warmer. In fact it was a Beautiful Sunday!

Football purists among the Celtic support will be delighted and surprised to have a rare away day at 3pm on April 28 (Not a Saturday but at least it’s a tradition 3pm kick off ) when we travel to Dundee. Let’s hope it’s not raining too heavy in the run up to that game.

Next up Hearts at home again on Saturday at 3pm as it should be! The Edinburgh team have taken 6 points off us this season already so revenge will be sweet if we can turn them over.

The Glasgow derby on Saturday, May 11. Kick off 12:30pm could this be the title decider? The noise will be deafening and the atmosphere electric at Celtic Park ahead of kick off.

The midweek fixture on Wednesday, May 15 will be another one where we will be hoping Celtic can get revenge on that dreaded Rugby Park plastic pitch at Kilmarnock. They knocked us out of the League Cup which paved the way for the rangers to win some silverware. Killie also took 4 points of us in the league.

Will the title race go to the final game of the league campaign ? when St. Mirren come to Celtic Park for another early Saturday kick off on Saturday, May 18.

Oh the excitement.
