Celtic 3 Motherwell 0
Eyebrows were once again raised by many Celtic fans when Neil Lennon revealed his team selection for the visit of Motherwell to Celtic Park. He picked the same eleven who were beaten on Wednesday night and knocked out of the Champions League. Still no striker fit enough to start?
The first half seemed to be heading the same way as the last few games, plenty of possesion, opposition defending well and hoping to catch us on the break before James Forest scored an excellent opener to silence his critics and his celebration showed how much the goal meant to him.
Thankfully Lenny had a light bulb moment at half time and brought on Klimala for Elyounoussi who was having a quiet afternoon. The striker didn’t do his claim for a starting postion any good when he missed a sitter before Ajeti replaced Ntcham and it made a difference and he scored his second goal for the club within 5 minutes of entering the play. Frimpong also came on during the second half and caused all kinds of problems for the visitors defence after replacing Taylor.
Forest was denied a second goal by the woodwork. Today he answered his many critics who have been calling for him to be dropped in the run up to the game. I thought he was outstanding today as was Callum McGregor.
It’s the International break now to recharge the batteries for all after a turbalent week down Paradise Way. Lets hope Lenny can get the transfer business done needed to improve the team and that we hold on to our prize assets.
