30 December 2020

The strangest festive period ever, travel restrictions, empty stadiums and the pubs are closed. Restrictions on family gathering continue and getting together with your mates is now a virtual experience

The vaccine has given us some hope of returning to some kind of normality and hopefully the opening up of football stadiums for myself and so many Celtic fans based in Ireland our last check-in at an airport or ferry terminal was in March when we played St. Mirren before the season came to a complete standstill.

I was totally against Football without Fans but I have come around to thinking that Fans without Football would be worse and on reflection I can’t imagine the lockdowns without my regular spot on the sofa on matchday which has replaced my seat in Celtic Park.

Thankfully our league form has improved and hopefully we will continue today against Dundee Utd at the unusual midweek kick off time of 3pm. The Cup Final put us through every emotion possible and without the pleasure of hugging a complete stranger in Hampden. A quadruple treble an unbelievable achievement achieved with the backdrop of unrest among the Celtic Support, thankfully after so much divide the Celtic fans have come together again to get behind the team while we continue  to ask questions of those running the club.

When the final whistle blows today all the talk and focus will turn to Saturday but for now the focus has to be 3 points this afternoon.
