CELTIC FANS COLLECTIVE The Celtic board is tired and visionless

After the removal of Wilfried Nancy and Paul Tisdale and the reappointment of Martin O’Neill, interim Chair Brian Wilson asked supporters to unite and push the team through the second half of the season.

Despite the anger and calls for a boycott, we agreed unity was in Celtic’s best interests. We contacted Wilson to arrange a meeting, on the understanding that mediation would be needed to unite supporters.

That offer has been ignored. Instead, Wilson has used his time this week to attack the Scottish Government as tired and visionless in a national newspaper.

At the same time, Martin O’Neill has been left managing expectations while admitting there has been no proper planning for the January window. Once again, Celtic have been caught short and are desperately failing to recruit the players required for the title race. More than a year after selling our star striker, we still have not replaced him.

To use Brian Wilson’s language. the Celtic board is tired and visionless.

If Wilson wants unity, it requires action, accountability and reconciliation. Our manager must be supported in the transfer market, the Green Brigade must be brought back to the stadium to reinvigorate the matchday atmosphere, the fan media ban should be revoked and the interim Chair must be willing to engage with supporters to mend the disconnect that has grown this season. Only then will his calls for unity have any meaning.
