Another Big Week for Celtic on and off the Park

news
27 January 2026

Like last week Celtic go into this week with two games. One in Europe and one in the SPFL. Let us hope we can keep 11 players on the field for both of the games after having to play with 10 men in both of last weeks game which both finished with 2-2. The controversial sending off of Auston Trusty on Sunday will be appealed by Celtic.

A share of the spoils in Europe was considered a good result away from home in Italy against Bolonga ahead of this weeks home tie against Utrecht. If Celtic win that game they will qualify for the knock out stages and another Europa night under the lights at Celtic Park and another European away adventure for the fans to enjoy.

After Thursday nights Europa League game all thoughts will then turn to the visit of an inform Falkirk team to Celtic Park. After Sundays share of the spoils at Tynecastle, Hearts are now in pole position in the League 6 points ahead of Celtic. With the rangers beating Dundee 3-0 at Ibrox on Sunday they now move above Celtic into second in the league.

The league is still a three horse race but Martin O’Neill will need to get some new players in before the transfer window slams shut. Celtic fans frustration at the speed that Celtic are doing business in this transfer window is there for all to see. More and more Celtic fans are now voicing their concerns about those running OUR club.

The Celtic Fans Collective have released a statement and will hold another meeting next week to see what actions will be taken next after failing to get Interim Celtic chairman Brian Wilson to meet with Fan Representatives.

A full house is expected on Thursday night at Paradise and unlike so many games in Europe, Celtic will not be underdogs and will go into the game as favourites. Utrecht sit near the bottom of the Europa League table and mid-table in the Dutch League.
