Irish singer-songwriter, actor and Celtic supporter Niall McNamee has been in contact to let us know he will be playing one of our favourite venues in Glasgow, McChuills on the 12th of November.
Glasgow has felt like a second home to him for years because of close friends there, but there’s obviously another reason the city has always meant a lot to him. As a Celtic fan he tries to get over to Celtic Park at least once a year. The last time he was over was for the Glasgow Derby at the start of 2026.
One of the only downsides of spending this year in Cork playing Frank in Mick Flannery’s The House Must Win was that he was actually on stage performing the final matinee when Celtic beat Hearts and lifted the trophy. He heard enough afterwards to know exactly what he had missed.
On the music side, an early sell-out in Glasgow was one of the first moments he realised his songs could find an audience beyond London and Ireland, so going back has always meant a lot to him. McChuills is the only Scottish date on this run, which makes this one feel particularly special.
The show’s part of his Limited Edition Tour following his debut album Glass & Mirrors, which reached the Top 40 in the folk charts in 2025.
The idea with most of these dates is deliberately intimate rooms where he can be close to the audience, play songs from the album, older material and try out some new songs for the next record.
