The dust has now settled on a fantastic double delivered by Martin O’Neill and a group of players whom he said lacked a lot but did not lack spirit after the late drama in Motherwell. O’Neill said after the Scottish Cup Final that he would be speaking to Dermot Desmond about his future. If O’Neill wants the job he deserves his shot after what he did over two spells during Celtic interim manager. The players and the fans love him.
Robbie Keane is also said to be in talks with Dermot Desmond about becoming the new manager his appointment will not be a popular one within the Celtic support after continuing to manage in Isreal during the genocide of Palestine.
A move to Glasgow for Keane would be another kick in the teeth by the current Celtic board to the fan base and go against the true values of the fans who follow Celtic. After the ban was lifted on the Green Brigade everyone at Celtic put their differences aside to get behind O’Neill and the players.
The last week of the campaign was the best week of my life following Celtic the drama and tension was unbelievable and the celebrations and relief when it was all over were incredible.
At a time when the Celtic board should be reaching out with an Olive Branch to the Celtic Support to try keep Unity an appointment of Keane would destroy any good will and lead to a greater divide between the fanbase and a very unpopular Celtic board who must know that for some of them their time is up and they need to stand aside for others with fresh thinking and fresh ideas.
Not many Celtic fans have confidence in the current board but as usual there is no communication from them about what direction they are taking the club in after last season when they looked clueless in control. Poor Transfer Windows, Brendan Rodgers Saga, The AGM fiasco, Fan Protests, Celtic Fans Banned and the Wilfried Nancy calamity.
Celtic have now an interim Chairman, a CEO who no one has confidence in, an absent major shareholder, No Manager, No Head of Football Recruitment.
Although we have a summer to enjoy and to celebrate it won’t be long until the season comes around and if it is a case of the same old same old from the Celtic board then Unity will not be a word we will be using.
That’s the moan over I am off to Spain to celebrate the double with like minded Celtic fans at the Celtic Supporters Festival and get their thoughts on the current state of play at Celtic.
