Brendan Rodgers now knows what players he has to pick from and the new arrivals to the club have received a mixed reaction from the manager. He asked for quality but he has seemed to be given a mixed bunch of talent from Celtic’s recruitment team.
Kelechi Iheanacho is a player he knows very well from his time at Leicester and since he arrived on loan after the transfer window shut he has opened his scoring account both domestically and in Europe. Showing balls of steal to come off the bench and score a last minute winning penalty against Kilmarnock. Can Kel’s goals shoot Celtic to victory.
He also came off the bench to score against Red Star Belgrade in Serbia and had plenty of chances on Saturday to open his scoring account in front of the Celtic Park faithful but failed to do so. I think it will happen sooner rather than later and he is now our number one striker.
His arrival will relieve the pressure on Daizen Maeda who had hoped to leave the club in the Summer after picking up Scottish player of the year last season. It looks like he will move on in January. Until then he may be asked to play on the right wing as he was on Saturday against Hibs with Tunisian winger Sebastian Tounekti now looking like the managers first choice on the left wing.
